SILENT AUCTION
Silent auction items include a variety of items from local businesses and all kinds of great, and often turquoise, Dysautonomia International swag! Salty snacks and water will be provided, but we suggest you bring a filled water bottle and your own snacks too.
SEATING
There will be some seating, but we encourage participants to bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket to sit on. Bringing a picnic blanket is much easier than dragging a chair around a big field, plus you can lay down on a blanket.
COVID-19 POLICY
Please help us protect the health of POTS patients, caregivers, volunteers and other guests. If you or someone you have been exposed to has recently had COVID-19, or you have unexplained symptoms suggestive of an infection (cough, fever, chills, etc.), please stay home. Masks are encouraged, but not required for this outdoor event. The event is in a large open field, so there is plenty of space to spread out while still enjoying the festivities.

Hi! My name is Lesley Sleeman, co-founder of the Detroit POTS Walk & 5K. After attending a conference many years ago and seeing the work that Dysautonomia International does I have wanted to do something to raise money and awareness towards research.
After a viral illness at the age of 13 almost completely debilitated me, I then developed POTS/Dysautonomia. It took me 9 1/2 years to get diagnosed and because of this organization we have come a long way, and we still have more to go! I took my drive for patient advocacy and now work in cardiology at Beaumont Royal Oak as a cardiac-sonographer.
I can’t wait to see what we can do for the third POTS Walk & 5K in MI! Thanks for the support and I can’t wait to make an impact.
- Lesley
Hi, my name is Marina and I am the Co-Chair for the Detroit POTS Walk.
I was diagnosed with POTS in 2015 after an anaphylactic reaction to a vaccine. I had just started a career in EMS and dispatch but was too sick to work. I was in and out of the hospital regularly. I was diagnosed relatively quickly and was able to start living my life again thanks to my medical team and the support of the Dysautonomia International community!
My goal is to see that everyone gets that quick diagnosis and the resources they need! I believe it is possible by funding research and education around POTS and by spreading awareness in the medical community and our communities at home!
I am so grateful to be back for our third annual walk here in Michigan!
- Marina
